Eliminate Acne Scars with Chemical Peels

chemical peelsIf you’ve had acne, you might have been left with some scars, even if it’s been a long time since you’ve had a breakout. These have historically been difficult to treat, but new chemical peels are very effective in diminishing some types of acne scars.

Unlike the peels of old, today’s medical-grade chemical peels are more effective and less harsh. Results are more predictable, and you’ll have little to no discomfort and downtime.

How do they work?

Our peels use a chemical solution to disrupt the bonds between dead skin cells. Only the outer layers of skin are removed, and after shedding your old skin cells, you’ll produce new ones. This process helps reduce the appearance of acne scars and gives your skin a smoother, healthier appearance.

What happens before my chemical peel?

We’ll help you choose the type of peel that will work best on your skin and yield the results that you want. Depending on your skin and the type of peel, we may also recommend that you use a special moisturizer or cream every day for about two or three weeks before your peel. You may also benefit from using Retin-A, a topical medicine. This skin-care regime can help speed up healing and make your skin tone look more even after your peel.

How do I care for my skin afterward?

You might have some flaking, redness, and mild irritation afterward, but these side effects will diminish over time.

Your new skin cells may be more sensitive to the effects of the sun, so you’ll want to be especially diligent in using sunscreen afterward.

Depending on your skin and the depth of the peel, you may need repeated peels every few weeks for four to six times to achieve the desired results.
