The most recent advance in
PhotoRejuvenation is Levulanic Acid combined with intense pulsed light
(IPL), known as photodynamic skin rejuvenation. PhotoRejuvenation
improves:
- Sun-damaged skin
- Acne scarring
- Broken capillaries
- Wrinkles
- Pore size
- Skin texture
- Pigmentation
- Rosacea
- Sebaceous Hyperplasia
- Moderate to severe cystic acne
- Pre-cancerous skin lesions
Photodynamic skin rejuvenation is now the "gold standard" of non-ablative skin treatments.

How does the treatment work?
An anesthetic topical cream may be applied prior to the light
exposure. The technician will then apply the Levulan and you will
incubate anywhere from 30 minutes to 8 hours (over several sessions).
Is the treatment painful?
During the treatment you may feel stinging, tingling, prickling, or
burning of the lesions, but this should go away about 7 hours after the
treatment. There should be some discomfort similar to a sunburn, but no
significant pain.
Is there downtime associated with this treatment?
Yes, you should stay out of the sun and bright light for 24 hours
after the treatment. Over the following three to seven days, the skin
will turn red and swollen followed by peeling skin. After one week,
there might be some residual redness that will subside after a few days
and can be covered with makeup. |
