Acne Light Treatment (BLU-U®)

The latest advancement in technology for light to moderate acne in adolescents and adults: Acne Light Treatment (BLU-U®)

Are you suffering from acne? Acne affects people of all ages and is not exclusive to teenagers. If you are struggling to control your acne and are looking for an alternative to medications or antibiotics, it might be just what you need.

North Scottsdale Laser & Skin Care has the cure! The latest advance in laser technology is the BLU-U® (blue visible light spectrum)

Acne Light Treatment (BLU-U®) explained:

This is the latest advance in technology to treat light to moderate recurrent acne in adolescence and adults. This procedure is non-invasive, safe, and has no downtime and no discomfort. You can have a beautiful complexion in a few weeks. The BLU-U® is a non-laser visible blue light device that targets the bacteria in the oil glands, eliminating a major player in the process of acne production.

For more severe forms of acne, or if excessive oil production is a major contributing factor, a topical photosensitizing agent called aminolevulonic acid (Levulan®) may be added to the BLU-U® light treatments. This Photodynamic Therapy or PDT acts in three different ways to combat acne: while inactivating bacteria, it also shuts down sebaceous glands, and unclogs pores by exfoliating skin, with the additional benefit of re-texturizing the skin to smooth the appearance of acne scarring. By addressing these root causes of acne, long-term to permanent reduction of acne is obtained.

Pattients receive 30 minute treatments under the blu-u light. Patients typically need several treatments, which are scheduled two to three days apart.
