Allergy Alert – What is Bugging You?

When most people think of allergies, they imagine itchy, watery eyes and a stuffy nose. When you hear about food allergies, you are likely to picture rashes, swelling, and a possible visit to the ER. While there are many people who suffer from severe food allergies, the reality is, there are even more people who live with food allergies every day and do not know it.

Many of the symptoms caused by food allergies are mild and not associated with allergies. Symptoms such as headaches, bloating and stomach aches can be caused by food sensitivities that go undiagnosed. Other conditions that can be triggered by these sensitivities can include eczema, arthritis and acne. Fatigue and lack of focus are other signs of food sensitivity. Everyone has a different body chemistry, and what’s good for one person can be bad for another.

You may be able to eat foods without a serious allergic reaction, but that does not mean that you do not have a sensitivity to it. Foods like wheat, dairy, eggs and fruits such as strawberries and bananas can all be culprits, causing annoying symptoms. Food sensitivities can be hard to pin down, because it is difficult to determine which food is causing the problem.

Often people ignore their symptoms, or blame them on something else. For example, headaches and upset stomach are frequent symptoms of a food sensitivity. If you knew what food was causing it, you could stop eating it and experience relief from those symptoms.

If you find yourself regularly experiencing skin problems, bloating, stomach upset and headaches, allergy testing can help you find relief. By finding out which foods your body is sensitive to, allergy testing can bring an end to symptoms you thought you had to live with. Eliminating the foods you are sensitive to can make a big difference in how you feel, and how you look.
